Jakarta - Director of Legal, Promotion and External Relations of National Islamic Finance Committee (KNKS), Taufik Hidayat, delivered a public lecture titled “The Strategy for the Development of Islamic Economy” at Pancasila University on Thursday, May 23. Also present is the Dean of the Faculty of Economics; one lecturer served as moderator.
Taufik expressed hopes that institutions of higher learning in Indonesia will take roles that are more active in the development of sharia-based economic and financial sector.
“Universities are a major factor in supporting the fundamental strategy to develop an Islamic economy utilizing improving the capacity for Research and Development,” Taufik said.
This idea is in line with one of the primary strategies on the development of Islamic economy laid out in the Indonesia Islamic Economic Masterplan (MEKSI) 2019-2024, launched in the same month.
Furthermore, Taufik also revealed the plan to support R&D for Islamic economy through the Indonesian Network for Islamic Economic Studies or INIES. “KNKS is ready to cooperate with Pancasila University to conduct research and development on Islamic economy and the creation of Islamic economy in Indonesia,” Taufik added.
The lecture was primarily intended for senior students as one of the prerequisites for their thesis.
